what am I doing now?
My Gear List...
The first thing you should know about my shooting style is that I'm a natural light photographer. Which basically means I am always striving to use available light around me and rarely use a flash or fancy-schmancy (aka heavy & annoying) lighting. I'll use a flash or two if I really have to, but otherwise, I'm always striving to use sunlight or whatever is around me. Mostly because I feel it provides the most natural images. Not only because of the actual light, but because it's a lot easier to be comfortable and yourself without dodging more-expensive-than-your-house lighting equipment. Which is double-true when working with kids.
That means a couple of things: 1) You get to pick your session location (like a playground or the beach!) and I'm going to do my best to disappear so you forget I'm there when I'm shooting (most of the time), and 2) My equipment better be up to the challenge!
So what do I shoot with?
Nikon D300
Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR
50mm f/1.4
85mm f/1.8
24-70mm f/2.8
17-55mm f/2.8
SB-800 external flash
And yes, I have identical backup equipment just in case. I also have a few other things in my bag (Shootsac lens bag, some other random lenses I'm trying out, a great pair of shoes, batteries, gum, Shout wipes - I am a mom....), but those are the essentials.
If all those numbers mean nothing, don't worry. Just know that you're covered wherever we go!
